St Croix Fiber Networks - “Bridging your Communications”

St. Croix Fiber Networks is the latest venture for U-reka Broadband Ventures, this $8.5 million capital project will serve the communities of Stillwater Township, May Township, Marine on St. Croix and Scandia and deliver ultra-high speed fiber optic services to every home and business throughout the serving area. 

This project has the support of all participating communities and is slated to apply for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds through the Rural Utility Service and National Telecommunications Information Association in late 2009.  This network will serve over 3400 passings and bring internet service to this unserved and underserved area. 

The goal of the network is to increase economic development in the area, create a network where persons are able to work from home and be productive and provide connectivity for the youth of the area to have access to the same information and speed of network as their more urban counterparts.
This network will differ from other fiber-to-the-premise deployments as we will focus on delivering the big pipe to the customer and encourage them to find the content and services they desire over the network.  We believe that this is the future model of telecommunications and see this area as an excellent test bed.
